Punch Family Foundation (PFF)
A non-profit 501c3 organization fulfilling its mission through three primary programs:
 
Annual Benefit Recital and Silent Auction:

We have guest artist that are alumni of America’s top music schools to perform in recital. Music theme varies from classical to Jazz and gospel. Is a great family activity. Event raises funds for scholarship and grants for college students. Held in June this event was the fist official program of the foundation. In 2007 two $1000.00 scholarships were given and $500.00 was given in the form of a grant for summer music studies. Scholarships and grants given depend upon funds raised.
Applications will be available on line in March, 2008. We encourage all college bound high school seniors to apply if you are planning to pursue a music related career. Grant applications should be received by April 31, 2008 recipients will be notified in June. Scholarship applications should be received by May 31, 2008 recipients will be notified in August.

 
Dallas Uptown Youth Orchestra (DUYO)

Offers students age 8-18 an orchestral experience that includes music theory, and coaching from professionals and student musicians DUYO nurtures young musicians and gives the support that can lead to an education and career in the performing arts or arts education. This program was organized the fall of 2007.

The mission of the Dallas Uptown Orchestra is to educate young musicians by providing a unique opportunity for those in the Dallas and surrounding areas; to develop and showcase their talents and gifts in music, moving towards professional levels. We are We are specifically targeting under resourced students.

We will have an Advanced Orchestra of 40 students and a Beginner/Intermediate Orchestra of 30 children. Our target goal is to train a minimum of 70 students per year. Our students audition for placement. Many of our students have had no prior music experience do not have access to a strings program through the schools they attend.

At the Dallas Uptown Youth Orchestra students will develop skills and discipline that can take them to any youth orchestra in the country. They will also be positioned to vie for music scholarships to attend college

The orchestra meets at the Trinity Center 1444 Oak Lawn Suite 200, on Saturdays from 9:30-12:45.

 
Outreach Programs

PFF offers outreach to expose and educate students and the community of under resourced populations about the performing arts and the various careers available. We bring classical music to schools, churches, and other public venue showcasing minority performers as well as showcasing the potential of building audience and participant diversity in the arts.

La Boheme

An overview of the Opera, opera careers and how music is used in communicating the message in an opera.
The Punch Family Foundation joined the Dallas Housing Authority’s Pre-Opera Activity offered to student residents of the housing projects. The Artistic Director of DUYO Richmond Punch did a demonstration of how music is used to show emotion in opera. Lauren Punch discussed careers and opportunities in opera.
